The Recycle feature allows users to reset and reuse a GPS device across multiple vehicles during its active term. Found under the Actions tab on both the GPS Device List page and the LocateLive page, this feature securely erases all existing data associated with a specific vehicle and restores the device to factory settings ready for a fresh installation in a new asset.

Why It’s Important

‍

Lenders and dealers often recover vehicles early or redeploy devices between customers. Instead of replacing hardware or submitting service requests, the Recycle feature lets you instantly reset and repurpose your existing device in-house. This maximizes hardware value, simplifies inventory management, and minimizes downtime between loans or leases all while preserving the device’s remaining term.

How to Use the Recycle Feature

‍

1. Go to the GPS Devices page or open the LocateLive view for the unit you wish to recycle.
2. Select the desired device from the left-hand column.
3. Click the Recycle action button at the top of the page.
4. A progress bar will appear while the system clears the device data.
5. Once complete, a confirmation message will appear indicating the reset was successful.
6. The device can now be reinstalled and activated in a new vehicle immediately.

Note: Recycling a device does not reset its service term. For example, if a 3-year plan device has been active for 12 months, it will have 24 months remaining after recycling.
